Fire Department

The De Smet Fire Department serves the City of De Smet and surrounding area. The department is made up of 30 area volunteers. The firemen meet regularly each month for training and drill. In 2011, the Fire Department moved into a new facility.

De Smet Rescue Unit

The De Smet Rescue Unit is comprised of a diverse group of area volunteers with different interests and backgrounds.

The De Smet Community and surrounding townships have shown appreciation to this unit through the years.  One of the ambulances  currently in use is a direct gift of that support.  This is just one example as many additional gifts/memorials have been received.  A big “thank you” goes out for this support.
